  Background

  The frequent long-term use of psychotropic medicines in aged care facilities (ACFs) has been of worldwide concern for many decades. In Australia, approximately half of ACF residents are prescribed psychotropic medicines. To date, there has been a lack of literature on the monitoring practices for psychotropic medicines in Australian ACFs.
