The flavonoid aglycone Naringenin, present in grapefruits, possesses anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic, hepato-protective and anti-lipid peroxidation effects. The therapeutic applications of Naringenin are limited because of poor solubility in water leading to slow dissolution after oral ingestion. Its bioavailability is only 5.8% in humans..
