    Amyloid-β (Aβ) and TAU are the two key molecules implicated in Alzheimer's disease. In a pathocascade, Aβ has been placed upstream of TAU. This concept has been proven in P301L mutant TAU transgenic mice that develop an increased number of tau tangles, either by crossing them with Aβ plaque-forming transgenic mice, or by intracerebral injections
