Backgrounds
The skin is known to be an adequate location to address a wide range of functional aspects of microcirculation and, for that reason, laser doppler flowmetry (LDF) and photoplethysmography (PPG) became well-known, non-invasive techniques to quantify flow variables in conditions as close as possible from the normal physiological state.
